Joab Cochrane
Inspector / Testing Technician
Joab Cochrane started working for Wilson Engineering, Inc. in 2018, and in the following years has served our clients by providing Quality Acceptance / Inspection services and Materials Testing services. He has assisted inspection and testing on numerous recent projects including the 2019 Area Wide Paving, Heron Way Reconstruction and Paving, Douglas Highway Water Main Replacement Re-bid (Phase 1), Mendenhall Blvd Paving, 2018 Area Wide Paving, and Hummingbird Lane Reconstruction and Paving. In 2019, he became intimate with the Seamans nuclear density gauge, performing full time quality control testing for the Contractor's placement of Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) for the Captian William Henry Moore Bridge. The William Henry Moore Bridge was named 2019 Project of the Year by the Juneau branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Before going to work for Wilson Engineering, Inc., Joab spent 31 years working for the City and Borough of Juneau as a Building Maintenance Supervisor for CBJ Parks and Recreation and a Maintenance and Operations Supervisor for CBJ Docks and Harbors.
Joab has over 30 years of experience in the maintenance, operations, and repairs of civil and building construction. His experience as a CBJ employee has provided him with a broad knowledge of CBJ Standards and Specifications, as well as many valuable relationships with City departments and staff. Recently, Joab has acquired additional training in the inspection and testing of HDPE pipe, soils, concrete, and asphalt pavement. He is proficient at interpreting plans and contract documents; coordinating with contractors, owners, and local authorities; and producing detailed daily reports.
When Joab is not working, he likes spending time with his family and skiing.
