Runway Safety Area Improvements: Phase I
Juneau, Alaska 2009-2012
Wilson Engineering teamed with PND Engineers to provide project management, contract administration, inspections and materials testing for the Juneau International Airport Runway Safety Area Improvements Project. The approximately 800,000 CY of material generated from the dredging process was used as embankment for the Runway Safety Areas next to the existing runway, an extension of the existing taxiway, and construction of two future development areas. Construction included the installation of a 4.6-acre Ground Loop Horizontal Piping loop field for a geothermal heating system. Two half-arch aluminum plate culverts, each exceeding 100 lf, were installed for the construction of the Runway Safety Area over Jordan Creek.
Final Completion August 2012. Construction Budget: $34 million.
