Steamship Wharf Improvements

Juneau, Alaska 1999

This project involved the installation of 60 timber piles and associated pile caps, stringers, and decking to widen the existing Steamship Wharf; the portion of the Wharf near the CBJ Parking Garage was expanded using glue-lam beams, steel stringers, and concrete over metal pan-decking. Four steel dolphins were also repaired during this project, including the installation of a rock anchor system at Dolphin #15. WEI provided project inspections and testing, including pile and welding inspections. This project was required to be constructed during the winter to avoid ship traffic. Wilson Engineering was also involved in the planning and design phase of this project and conducted the condition survey of the original structure prior to the design phase. The project was completed on schedule and on budget (when extra work requested by CBJ is excluded).

Construction Budget: $789,010.
