Runway Safety Area Improvements: Phase 2A

Juneau, Alaska 2012 - 2013

Wilson Engineering teamed with PND Engineers to provide project management, contract administration, inspection and materials testing for the second phase of the Juneau International Airport Runway Safety Area Improvements. The east end of the runway was extended by 500 feet while also shifting the threshold at the west end of the runway by 120 feet. Construction included relocation of taxiways, reconstruction of the north seaplane base road, and new surfacing of runway safety areas and commercial development areas. Electrical improvements included new airfield lighting, navigational aids, and a new airfield lighting controls and monitoring system.

Final completion in October, 2013. Construction Budget: $15 Million.
